Introduction
Dear Academicians:
here comes the Academy Newsletter last issue, a report about Vulcan Science Academy's activities during the last six months. Many valuable works have been realized during the year, thanks to our worthy researchers' industriosity and are waiting to be published on "Inside Star Trek" (provided that the Race Senate will get back to some Vulcan efficiency!) and on LOGs, while several and interesting projects are on schedule, waiting also for you all to contribute. 2000 actually ends with a positive evaluation, because, notwithstanding some of our members' personal difficulties, VSA is keeping with its mission to make the beauty and variety of our culture known to all.
Will Surak show you all the path of knowledge.

Vulcan Academy Reorganization
As you all will certainly know, the Vulcan Academy owes its existence to Chancellor Shand and Ambassadress Mir, who all along the years were our guide and reference in our steady search of knowledge and exercise of logic. Lately, as it was logical to expect, both our Masters have been compelled to turn their attention to other and more noble tasks. While Shand has now reached the goal of accomplishing Kolinahr, Mir took charge of the spiritual guide of Vulcan, becoming a High Priestess and Keeper of the Ancient Knowledge. The honorable, but humbler, charge of Chancellor of the Vulcan Academy goes then to the present Vice-Chancellor and former Head of the Bibliographical Commission, Marco "Sabich" Vittorini, while the role of Ambassadress in S.T.I.C., will be covered by the present Head of Prism Commission, Anna "T'Sun" Perotti. The newly appointed Head of the Bibliographical Commission will be our valuable collaborator Salvatore 'Sooran' Carboni.
While we respectfully thank Shand and Mir for their commendable work, we whish good work to the newly appointed ones. All charges will be operative from January, 1 2001.
A brief farewell message from Shand and entry one by Sabich follow.
Message From The Leaving Chancellor
Academicians, Live Long and Prosper,
I am writing from our native T'Khasi, coming back from the umpteenth work travel. More and more often it happens to me to have to keep conferences and teach classes everywhere in the Federation. More and more seldom, I realize, I succeed in visiting that blue planet, where we all found so much diversity.
Unfortunately the growth of my personal mission of bearer of knowledge makes it more and more difficult for me to look after Academy events with the due efficiency. Logic dictates thus that an other person will be more effective than I am.
I announce, then, that, after more than ten years, for the first time since its creation, this Academy has a newly appointed Chancellor in the most logical and efficient person of Sabich by T'Mav, who many of you already know.
Logically, I will keep collaborating as much as possible to our mission of spreading the basis of our culture: the love for diversity (please, forgive me the excess - ten years spent on Earth left their mark on my way of speech).
Good work to you all.
Andrea 'Shand' Cozzolino
Great Master of Kolinhar
Message From The Newly Appointed Chancellor
Gentle Academicians,
It is with a slight sense of sadness that I am accepting Chancellor Shand's invitation to succeed him in the duty of guide this Academy. As some of you perhaps will know, I really did not ever look for this charge and I even declined it, when it was offered to me, earlier. In these occasions I thought I could be more effective from my lower position of Shand's second in command and Head of the Bibliographic Commission, learning far more than I might ever teach.
What did it change since then? Actually, if I accepted the charge, this time, it is only because I really became aware of the great number of commitments which are keeping Shand away from the Academy and that the Academy needs a different kind of support, which Shand no longer is able to offer.
I am certain that, with the indispensable help of you all and the Senate's trust, I will be able to continue the work we did in the last years and to keep all our commitments to bring Logic and Vulcan Culture wherever is chaos and confusion and wherever diversity is sought and welcome.
Good work to you all.
Marco 'Sabich' Vittorini
Chancellor
STICCON XIV: Vulcan Academy Meeting
As every year, the VSA annual meeting took place during STICCON XIV, to discuss VSA activities future projects.
The meeting happened in stardate 0011.10, at 10:30 pm in the "Engineering Hall" in the Meeting Center, after Video Trek XIII projection e before the beginning of the "Kobayashi Maru" game - unfortunately it was affected by the several defections from the Sticcon and the attending Academicians were far less then last year. Anyway, there were Head of Prism Commission and Academicians' Coordinator T'Sun of T'Giul, Head of Linguistical Commission T'Var of T'Leia, Researchers Sooran and Saduk and some observers.
During the meeting, which lasted until past midnight, T'Sun related about Academy activities and problems due to some academicians' personal difficulties to contribute. She asked researchers Sooran and Saduk to join the Academy management to collaborate to some activities, such as the evaluation of academicians' contributions to Inside ST and Academy LOGs and writing and editng newsletters. They stated their availability.
T’Var reported about the status of her commission work, that is the development of a believable Vulcan linguistical model; she explained all the intricacies she is currently facing. Up until now, the project is far from conclusion - actually it is barely beginning. T'Var also reported about the Vulcan cultural principles disclosed by Star Trek Voyager latest episodes and expressed all her perplexities about the lack of continuity and the absurdities.
The meeting ended with the renewed commitment by the attending Academicians to actively contribute to Academy life.

STICCON XIV: Races Senate Meeting
Races Senate annual meeting took place in Bellaria stardate 0011.10. Vulcan Academy was represented by Head of Prism Commission T'Sun of T'Giul and by Head of Linguistical Commission T'Var of T'Leia, who acted in the double function of Vulcan delegate and leaving Vice-Moderator of RS. The audience acknowledged all the Moderator Staff's resignation and proceeded to appoint new ones.
Those who were elected are: Moderator Dario Valeri; Vice-Moderators: Stefano Avvisati e Silvana Varlec
Completed Projects - Vulcan Academy Log 2000
During STICCON 2000 the new Academy Log was presented. Here you may see the wonderful cover by Giovanni Cosentino.
The Log includes:
Work In Progress
RS Articles, 2001
Trustee: Chancellor Marco ‘Sabich’ Vittorini
So far the Races Senate has the followings articles, still to be published:
The long times of Inside Star Trek publishing allow us to estimate that we have enough of articles for the whole year. Anyway the Researchers who are willing to contribute do not be discouraged - there are other fanzines waiting for their work. Besides, until the articles will not be published nothing forbid us to ask them back would a better occasion to use them come up.
Log Accademia Vulcaniana 2001
Trustee: Head of Prism Commission Anna "T'Sun" Perotti
Synopsis: S.T.I.C. yearly fanzine edited by VSA for charity. It includes stories about Vulcan and Vulcans, arts, essays and poetry.
Status: In progress.
Deadline: We are considering whether try to make it for STICCON XV, Bellaria, May, 24-27 2001
So far, we collected the following works:
The publishing committee is also considering: "Un piccolo regalo" ("A Little Gift") by Andrea "Solmak" Solmi and "The Yesterday Patient" by Jim Ausfahl.
Further submissions will be accepted until February 2001.
We would be particularly interested on stories and essays centered on relation between Vulcan and Romulan culture, the apparent Romulan diaspora and a possible unification project.
