Research on highly toxic Mombasa fever is done in tightly secured research rooms of the Margolin institution. The institution is headed by Dr. Ted Margolin. He is divorced and caring for his two sons, David and Jeff. It is Jeff’s last weekend before he is sent to a special school because he is mentally disturbed. For the weekend David and his girlfriend Michelle take Jeff for a camping tour in the mountains. Jeff steals his father’s special card which enables him to enter the area where Dr. Max Durov experiments with infected mice to find a cure against Mombasa fever. He takes one of the infected mice to take it along to the trip. Dr. Durov’s work was threatened to be ended on that subject, but he is determined to go on with his research even if Dr. Margolin was against it. An intense search for the three begins while Dr. Durov finds a cure for the decease. When they are found the vaccine saves their lives.
