A parole officer, Mark Forbes, is to be retired
against his wishes. Just a day before one of his parolees tells him about an enormous
robbery he has planned to do together with three other parolees, because he trusts him
while dying in his arms.
Forbes has no chance to avoid his retirement, but gets a job
in the police securing a gold transport through town.
Mark meets the other three parolees:
Scat, the clever chief, Mitch
, the electronic whiz and Tudor, the demolition expert.
He likes them. On the other side, he is frustrated about his retirement. So, he decides
to listen to the plan after he has convinced them that they can trust him. The plan sounds
good, he feels that he has nothing to loose. At his farewell party to which he invites the
three "there was more fun at my grandmother’s funeral" - as Mitch puts it.
The lorries are
about to follow a certain route. One of several possible routes. Just shortly before they
start moving the route will be decided on. Mitch implants a camera at the place where the
decision is going to be made, Tudor is preparing the gunshot effects in the street and all
together get to the conduit system underneath the street to empty the lorries from underneath.
The trick is to stop them right above the planned place. Lots of planning and preparation.
Lots of work. And it works. On their way out in a yellow van, a police car accidentally hits
the van, and the bumper of the police car is stuck behind the van’s bumper.
The policeman
gets a truck with a device to lift the van in front, so that the bumper is freed permanently
excusing to the Mark and Scat who were sitting in front. The heavy gold slides down in the
back, opening the doors and falling onto the street. Mitch and Tudor holding on to iron
handles are hanging in the back of the van watching the gold sliding down – and being
watched by the astonished police man.
Their friendship remains after being caught.
