When Michael Shane wakes up, he notices that his neighbor living in the flat above him, Nora Carroll, is in his room. Though he is framed for murdering her husband, he is allowed to investigate because his friend is the officer on the case. A photographer, Larry Ludlow, who is dominated by his girlfriend, took incriminating photographs to get some extra money. His finances are down and he now wants to get his payment from the person who hired him. He phones him from a phone booth and the man agrees to come to pay him. When he comes in and pays, Larry and his girlfriend complain – they expected more. But Larry is threatened by the criminal who knows that he can do nothing about it. But his girlfriend is cross with him that he did not oppose the man. Soon Michael Shane finds his address and looks for Larry. His girlfriend hides Larry because he is drunk now and she fears he might tell about his deals. She tells Michael Shane that Larry is not in. He does not believe her and comes back to listen at their door overhearing their discussion. He goes in, shakes the photographer and makes him give away hints about the man who paid him for the photos. That way Shane can prove his innocence. | |||||
