Olivia is back in her world working together in her familiar group of colleagues but does not remember what has happened to her during her short encounter with William Bell in the other dimension. Nina Sharp from Massive Dynamic and William Bell had arranged for her to cross over to the other world for a moment. Again and again memories keep on flashing up, but she cannot sort them in her mind.

Again Walter Bishop is the one who seems to be closest to the solution which explains all the strange, unexplainable events the group encountered. He is sure what it is all about: Shape changers. He had examined a body which was found after a robbery. People who came from another reality, tried to find a preserved head of a human body amongst others heads which are stored in institutions.  In a shootout with security after the robbery one of the body shifters was hit in the head so that shifting bodies did not help him to survive. That body Walter Bishop examined. And he is sure that there are more body shifters around.

There are. And they are looking for a head. One of them is using the body of Olivia's colleague Charlie Francis.

Olivia now remembers: She has been in the other world.
 
Slowly a man had entered the office: "I have been waiting quite a long time for this." "Where am I? Who are you?" she had asked.
Very friendly he had answered: "The answer to your fist question is very complicated. The answer to your second: I am William Bell." 

 

Looking out of the window she had overseen New York from one of the highest floors of the Twin towers.

            

 

And her memory come back now:
She is in the Twin Towers looking out and hears William Bell's slow and deep voice behind her: Olivia!

                                                                    

 After all these years! It is so nice to finally see you again.

You have to forgive me. The method to bring you here was crude and I am sorry for that. But there were people who are trying to prevent our meeting. This is not at all the kind of reunion I always envisioned.

 

 

 

The union you always envisioned? Dr. Bell, I have been trying to meet with you for over a year.  

 

 

 Please, call me "William" or "Willem" if this feels warmer to you. "Willem" - that's what you always called me when you were a girl.

 

 

How do you like your tea?

 I don't want any tea.

 

 

 

Flashes occur in Olivia's memory and she suddenly finds herself with a cup of tea in her hand.     

You are still a little disoriented from the time slips, aren't you?, William Bell asks.
Olivia looks puzzled and puts down the cup.
Happened to me when I first came here, William Bell continues. You're out of sync with this side. You are lucky.
Most people who cross dimensions without your natural talent are simply torn apart.

William Bell pauses and takes a deep breath of oxygen out of a respiratory mask and goes on: I don't know what Walter has told you by now. I don't know how much he remembers. 

 

 

He told me what you did to me when I was just a girl. How you conducted drug trials on young children.
 

 

 

 

We weren't trying to hurt you, Olivia. We weren't trying to hurt anybody.

 

 

 

Guess what?
You did.
 

 

 

 

 

 

I met some of the others. To say that they are permanently damaged would be an understatement. .

 

 

Yes. In any search for knowledge there are always unintended consequences. "Victims" you might say.

 

But not you. I can see them just by looking at you. In fact you are just coming in, Olivia.
(Suddenly William Bell stands at the window site instead of besides the table where she had seen him standing just now)


I have seen history to repeat enough times to know a war is coming. Just as we predicted, Walter and I, and we knew we have to prepare a guardian, someone to watch the gate. 

Between this side and yours, I would like to say "ours" because that's where I came from, but I am afraid that I would sound disingenuous. 

 

Go on.

 

 

For reasons that will become clear in time I cannot go back yet. Maybe not forever. But we know how difficult that is to cross over. I can count with my hand the number of people who have done it safely. But from this side it has become more insidious. They have designed hybrids, part organic tissue, part machine, they can do things that humans can't. They can change shapes, taking the forms of human beings. Over here they call them "The First Wave".

So, you are saying these "hybrids" are already on our side.

 

 

I know it is difficult to grasp.

 

Oh, I can grasp it just fine. I don't trust you, Dr. Bell, or William or Willem or whatever cutesy name might appeal to my childhood instincts. Your company has been involved or if not directly been responsible for some of the most horrific things that I have ever seen. To say noting of the fact that you just yanked me into this parallel universe to warn me about an interdimensional war that I believe, you are responsible for starting. So, what I want is not warmth or tea, it is the truth.

The truth will come out. It always does.
Livy, you don't have to trust me. You don't even have to like me, but you can't deny: I have a unique perspective shaped by having lived in two worlds. I know the difference of a wrong choice to make - or a right one.
For example: This building is still standing because different choices were made.
So, Livy, if you can look past your anger, you may find that I am more of an ally than you think.

 

Suddenly William Bell speaks from another part of the room: A storm is coming. Perhaps the last and worst storm of all. And when it is over I fear that there will be little left of our world. The shape shifters on your side are looking for someone, someone to open the door between universes. And if they find him, it would be no stopping him. And that is why you must find him first.

 

 

Me?

You are the one, Olivia. Of all the children that Walter and I prepared you are the strongest. You were always the strongest.
Remember this symbol, it is hidden on their leader. Show this to Nina. She can help you.

He rings a bell.

 

Olivia, you should stand. I think it will be less painful that way.

William Bell leads her to the window saying:

Tell that to Peter. You gonna need him by your side. Tell it to him, he'll know what it means. I'm afraid there is no avoiding what has to happen next. I pulled you out of a moving car. The momentum can be differed, but it must always be paid back in full. I always said to Walter: Physics is a bitch.

Back in her dimension Olivia hurries to meet Nina Sharp. Meeting Nina Sharp Olivia tells her about her meeting with William Bell. Nina tells her what William Bells means by the storm: The thing William Bell dreaded most when discovering the other dimension was a collision. No two objects can occupy the same space at the same time.

Nina demonstrates what happens if the doorway between the two sides was ever opened. Only one world would remain.
That's what William Bell called the last great storm. 

Meanwhile Charlie Francis finds out that he soon will be discovered but finds out where the head they are looking for is to be found. The shape changers find the head and apply it to a body. The leader who will be able to open the door between the two dimensions.
