An undercover government agent, Christopher Colt, acts as a gun salesman in order
to find outlaws. These outlaws, under the lead of
Luke Ried, whom he was after,
now try to kill him. As they make him shuffle his own grave near a farm,
Mrs. Thorpe comes out and stops them. Convincing her that Chris is a criminal,
he is kept bound inside the farmhouse while Luke gets more acquainted with her
daughter. Mother and daughter Thorpe save every cent to keep the farm going.
Money Luke intends to spend otherwise.
He promises the daughter to take her
along with him to the "big town" - which was a desire of hers, since she
has never been there. The moment the mother approaches the barn she quickly
gets up from the hay where they were sitting while Luke stays cool;
he knows he has won her trust.
Back in the house Luke steals the money in the early morning while
everybody is still sleeping and heads away from the farm, the daughter
riding with him. As she sees that Luke tries to leave her behind, she
reminds him to his promise to take her with. Luke gives her a kiss and
tells her that she has to stay.
In the farmhouse the mother has discovered that the money is gone and
her daughter too. Now she believes Colt who had tried to convince her
that Luke is one of the most wanted criminals around. She frees him
and he pursues the two, coming right in time to see how the daughter is
pushed aside in order to make way for Luke to leave.
It comes to a shooting where Luke is killed.
