Stardate 2124.5
Space Quadrant 904, 8 days from Colony Beta Six, orbit of an uncharted planet
The Enterprise is trapped around a planet they cannot explain where it came from
as suddenly Kirk and Sulu disappear. Spock arranges for a search party including
Dr. McCoy and Lt. Karl Jaeger.
They find Trelane. Trelane has got powers beyond human imagination and he had
created the planet, Gothos, with all what’s on it –especially Earth related relicts
from the 18th century. To these Kirk and Sulu were supposed to be added as collectibles.
Trelane –in spite of his unbelievable powers - has little self-control, is spoiled, willful and childlike.
Trelane invites the search party to take part in his festivals.
Spock manages to beam them aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, but not for long. Trelane,
transports the entire bridge crew onto Gothos. He's arranged a banquet.
Kirk challenges Trelane because he thinks his powers come from a machine and destroys
the device. They don't. Kirk sees one way out since the Enterprise is trapped with
all her crew: He offers to sacrifice himself for a fox hunt – as the fox – if then
the Enterprise is freed.
Suddenly, as Trelane is about to kill the Captain, Trelane's parents intervene and
apologize for letting their child play in such a way. Trelane will not be allowed
to play with another planet until he has learned to treat other beings with respect.
