Stardate 3141.9

In the 1990 great leaders of the Eugenics War disappeared. Crossing the path of the S.S. Botany Bay, a pre-warp sleeper ship, the Enterprise encounters the sleeping bodies of them. Amongst them is Khan, who had conquered a quarter of Earth at the time and who is now awake first. He and Lt. Marla McGivers become friends. Khan has a strong, fascinating  personality and is proud of his past as a dictator. Even Kirk and doctor McCoy seem to admire him, to Spock's dismay. 

As the whole crew wake up, Khan, keeping to his conquering past, gains control of the Enterprise. Marla now realizes that Khan intends to kill everybody who is against him. She helps Kirk and Spock to regain control of the ship by flooding it with gas. After Khan's men are overtaken Kirk gives them a choice: to be arrested or to start a new life on a desert planet. They choose the latter and Marla chooses to join them and stay with Khan.
