Stardate 1531.1
Robert and Nancy Crater are archeologists working on M–113. The Enterprise
passes by and the crew bring along supply and provide medical check ups.
They wonder about the huge supply of salt the two are in need of. Suddenly
one of the crewmen is found dead.
Later on everybody notices that Nancy looks exactly the way everybody imagines
her she would look like and it becomes obvious that she can change into
anybody's outer appearance and more casualties occur- leaving people dead.
The doctor finds out that there is no bit of salt left in the bodies.

"What do they do on Vulcan in
a moonlight night, Mr. Spock?" "Vulcan has no moon, Lieutenant" |
Spock is attacked, too, by a creature, but survives, "Fortunately my ancestors
spawned in another ocean than yours did. My blood cells are quite different."
They find out that there is still one single alien left from the original kind
living on this planet. He/she has provided company for Prof. Crater, who's wife
Nancy had dies years ago, and Prof. Crater has provided the salt needed for the
only survivor to live on. The creature boards the Enterprise in disguise as one
of the crew, appears as Dr. McCoy and intends to suck more salt from people.
Spock intervenes to prevents his captain from being killed by it, the creature
reveals her/his real appearance and is killed.
