The head of the Zembra family and boss of a syndicate dealing with heroine (this syndicate controls a quarter of the worlds illegal drugs) is ill. He must think of a successor now to whom he will hand over a list revealing opium farms, transportation routes, carriers and corrupt officials. The IMF is to obtain the list and to prevent Zembra to keep his heroin empire going.

Ten years ago Paul Corrigan has spent his summer holidays at the Zembra estate. He was and still is a friend of the family and visits them again. The circumstance that he had a surgical operation, plastic surgery which gave him a total new face, gives Paris the chance to replace him. On his way from the airport Paris is taking Paul's place and meets Vito, who drives the car to take him to the estate. Paris makes sure to point out that he's not the boy any more Vito knew, knowing he does not make himself a friend.

I'm not the little boy you knew any more- I have got my own syndicate

At the estate Zembra jokes about his new $ 30,000 face indirectly indicating his appreciation and reminds Paul/Paris to call him "uncle". Paris agrees that money does not increase any surgeon's power of imagination. Zembra still loves his good manners and shows his appreciation of the now grown up man. Dana has taken over the duties of the nurse caring for Albert Zembra. Everybody needs time to get used to the new looks and Carlos states that this person could be anybody - a moment later laughing about his own joke. Eve is attracted to the man, but hesitates since he seems distant to her – until Paul/Paris calls her by a nickname indicating his closeness to her.

Paul, you have changed - you have changed, too

Carlos tells Paris about their engagement. All in all the people in the family are warmhearted and live a happy family life. There is no reminder of the fact that thousands of people die because of the drug - dealing of the syndicate. Dana is "caught" by Carlos while stealing jewelry. She tries to explain about her difficult youth ... stops and says "You can fire me if you want to".

Paris and Eve get closer by the time and a happy, even loving and caring atmosphere develops. She notices that Paul has become more relaxed and that he has changed somehow. In the evening she phones him to come up and to fetch him to go to dinner. She surprises him by coming into his room via a secret door – and is quite surprised herself when Paris explains his surprise by having forgotten about the secret door, saying he should have expected her to come in that way. He jokes that he, too, will catch her with something she has forgotten about. Jim, an American syndicate boss, offers Carlos a big share in his syndicate if he works against Zembra. Of course he is ignored at first.

One evening Paul/Paris is talking to Zembra both sitting in his bedroom when Paris "notices" something suspicious. A man seems to have overcome all security precautions and approaches the bedroom via the door of the balcony. Paris indicates Zembra to keep on talking while he gets closer to the door. Right in time to hit the man and pull him into the room the moment he was pointing his gun at Zembra. As Carlos, Vita and other security enter the room- Carlos ability to secure Zembra's safety is questioned by Zembra. He is sure Paul has saved his life. Vito wants to kill Barney at the spot, but Paris suggests to question the man first- when he is conscious again. They lock Barney into a room, but he is prepared to break out on his own.

Now Carlos becomes aware of Zembra's closeness to Paul and uses Dana's dependency. He wants to know exactly what Zembra thinks of him. Soon Paul wants to talk to Zembra about the succession of the syndicate and makes it urgent, stating he's leaving tomorrow. Dana gives Zembra his pills because "she wants him to take them before she leaves". And Paris asks for some of the vine they had had the night before – causing Vito to leave too to fetch a bottle of vine. Dana has installed a speaker in the room. The moment the pills make Zembra sleep, Dana waves Carlos to come into a room. She shows him the loudspeaker and Carlos overhears the conversation between "Paul/Paris" and "Zembra/Paris".

Meanwhile Vito of whom Eve has warned Paul about because he's a killer, notices that he has forgotten the keys for the cellar. Vito returns to the room to fetch the keys. Zembra has bowed his head down, asleep – or like in deep thought. Covering his mouth with his hand and turning away Paris says with Zembra's voice: "You know where they are" - Vito fetches the keys and leaves. A relieved Paris continues his conversation in which "Zembra" shares his plans with Paul to hand over the syndicate to Paul, even giving reasons why he thinks Carlos is unable to take over.

Right now, raging Carlos after having listened to the discussion, recieves a call from Jim, offering the unification of the syndicates and a big part for Carlos again, if Carlos works against Zembra. Carlos now agrees to cooperate. The next phone calls informs Zembra that his granddaughter is in the hands of the other syndicate. The old man does anything they want in his anguish. He goes to the meeting point, though Paul warns him not to jeopardize his life. He agrees to take Paul's offer to go in first to find out what they want. As he comes in, he tries to find out from Jim about the conditions and Eve interrupts them demanding to stop the show. "Which show?" they wonder. Eve then explains that she knew since the moment Paris commented about the secret door. "Everybody can forget something", Paris says, but Eve continues: "It was put in after that summer – you could not even have known about it".

Paris asks Willy and Jim for a chance to speak to her alone. He knows about her love towards her grandfather and has a hard time convincing her that he is a killer, that thousands of people die slowly, painfully by heroine. She denies that this is true, but deep down she knows. Eve shares her fear about her grandfather's fate and Paris ensures her that they are in to destroy the syndicate, but not her grandfather. As Willy and Jim come back, Paris is ready to go out and ask Zembra in. Jim warns him that Eve might reveal all about him and that his life is in danger.

Paris insures him: "I know and she knows, too." He is sure, she will not tell Zembra. Paris informs Zembra that they are waiting for him, orders Vito to stay outside and approaches from the back. As Zembra notices that Carlos and Jim are aliened, Paris brakes in from the back, shooting at them. The others escape and as Carlos, Vito and Zembra are alone, Zembra shoots Carlos in still disbelieve that the one who has been "like a son" has turned against him. Outside Eve is desperate. She knows that Carlos was shot and she worries about her grandfather. She refuses to accept Paris' try to comfort her and answers to the offer that she's free now and Paris could help her, that she only will be free when her grandfather died. But Eve does not intervene when Zembra comes out and hands over his ring, the symbol of the power over the syndicate, to Paul - being tired of the business and giving the information which is hidden in micro - dots under the stone in the ring.
