Barney and Jim are on vacation together. There Barney falls in love with an old friend of his: Alma Ross while Louis Corba, not asking for the lady's wishes, wants her to be with him. As he sees Barney leaving her room, Louis becomes envious and confronts him and threatens Alma. Buying her flowers across the street Barney hears Alma scream and rushes upstairs to help her. As they struggle Louis pulls out a knife and tries to kill Barney. Barney manages to defend himself and as Louis falls, he falls into his own knife and dies. Jim arrives at Alma's place and learns that Louis was the brother of a dictator - like chief of police, who makes his own rules. Seeing Barney's lawyer being scared off by Manuel Corba, the chief of police, he calls in the IMF. 

In the cell opposite Barney's is a man called Riva. Having seen too much of the chief's practices, he is scared for his life, but he is sure that Barney is definitely not living much longer: He is locked up in cell no. 10, the death cell. Corba and some of his men were executing people on their own – a fact which earned them the name “death squad”. Barney manages to open the door of the cell and escapes. He makes it to the next door in the same moment Corba and Jocarno come in through it. To prevent a quick execution Interpol agent Willy is soon looking for robbers responsible for the recent jewelry robbery and shares with chief Corba that Barney and Jim definitely were involved, but only Barney is supposed to know where the jewels are hidden. 

Paris comes in as a new member of the police. He boasts with his money and throws a “party” where he gets "drunk". As he sleeps Jocarno, searches through his papers, pays the invited women with Paris' money, keeps the rest for himself and finds copies of newspaper reports indicating that Paris is after the jewels too. Learning from Paris that the jewels were on a person and knowing that this person was one of the people the death squad had executed, Jocarno, who's working with Corba, goes to the place of the executions to look for the jewels. 

Jocarno is followed by the IMF. And Paris indicates interest to become a member of the death squad. Jocarno denies knowledge of such a squad. At the place Jocarno has searched for the jewel, the IMF finds a big basin filled with acid under two gallows. Soon Barney and Riva are lead to the gallows and are executed. The IMF has prepared a way to make the hanging ineffective and both "land" on hay. A close escape and the IMF leave the scene while the police forces, informed about Corba's group, come in.
