Trivanium could help any country to develop nuclear weapons very inexpensively. This rare isotope has been stolen by Otto Sliff and Major Paul Johan, all organized by the chief of security of another country, Colonel Alex Vorda. The IMF is to get it back. Hoping to sell the trivanium just for himself, Johan kills Sliff and hides the isotope blaming Sliff for the disappearance of the trivanium before Vorda. Sliff's ex – girlfriend, Alena, and Johan meet Monique (IMF), Paris' girlfriend. Monique gives several hints which indicate to Alena that Sliff is somehow Paris. A painter (Paris) enters the restaurant where Alena is dining and sits at a table close to her.

He is somehow drawn to Alena and draws a picture of her. Alena sees Sliff in the painter who draws, talks and thinks like Sliff. Alena tells Vorda about him who has Paris' fingerprints taken- to find out that they match with Sliff's (with a little help of the IMF). Paris confesses that he has lost all his memory of his past and only can remember the time after an accident he had. Jim, an amnesia specialist, is asked for help by Vorda. He hopes that Jim can restore Paris’ memory in order to find out about the trivanium. Meanwhile Monique tells Johan that she knows about his partnership with Sliff and about the planned sale Johan has arranged. They become partners.

When they are followed by men who seem to work for Vorda, Monique is sure: Paris has remembered and given away information to Vorda. The only way to save is life, to escape Vorda is that Monique tells Paris where the trivanium is so that Vorda finds it out from Paris first. He tells her. While Willy and Barney replace the trivanium with a substitute, Paris undergoes a torture. Vorda insists the memory session should go on, regardless of Paris' condition. In agony he wishes to see Monique. She is allowed to see him and tells in code where it is hidden. Paris is forced to go on with the agonizing memory sessions. He begins to remember about the trivanium and where it is. And he remembers that Johan tried to kill him. Vorda has Johan killed and sells a worthless container to fulfill his deal.
