"The third planet from
the sun - a wet planet. We are on an expedition to investigate a federation
of strange life forms... Because light from the nearest star provides
light poorly we must provide light... Jellies spent most of their
lives without contact to anything solid and do not have a fixed home site.
Their weight is near neutral to the fluid around them...
The life form we see
before us has no brain, no eyes,
no heart, no lungs, no tough protective covering. Yet it is a complete
being. Able to navigate, feed, defend itself and reproduce...
600
meters deep a certain kind of jelly feeds on other jellies by swallowing
them whole...
No
destination, no point of origin. For millions of years its kind has
silently cruised the depths. It can be discussed whether they represent life
on earth better than us...
By the ROV, the remotely operated vehicle, which is controlled from the ship,
photos can be taken in the most precise way. And extremely close to the
animals. Gelatinous creatures make up a very large percentage of the Oceanic
community."
