2007 Ray Harryhausen

In the Milky Way galaxy, circling a star called the Sun, is a small planet... This master-craftsman gave unforgettable shape to myths for half a century. Today Ray Harryhausen is, like his creations, a legendary figure.
At the age of 13 he was taken to see King Kong at Grauman's Chinese Theatre. There he got the desire to create those figures and got busy immediately.
O'Brian made him enroll in art-school. In the army Ray Harryhausen produced film sequences for training purposes. Armatures are puppet-skeletons. His father assisted him doing those and his mother helped with the costumes. Always he tried to raise sympathy for his creatures.

In 20.000 Miles to Earth the creature only became destructive because it was attacked.
He made the Sindbad films, The First Men in the moon, countless animals like ants or bees which appeared to be huge, moving skeletons, the 7 headed hydra... Easily to imagine the 7 headed-monster, difficult to make.
Sometimes there were 57 moves to make in one single frame because of various characters or attachments. Mixing and matching figures from different ages was a delightful Harryhausen special. In 1992 Ray Harryhausen got an Oscar for his work.
