In Search Of... Season 6 # 19, TIME AND SPACE TRAVEL
In
1895 H. G. Wells
published a phantastic novel about time travel. He entitled it The Time Machine. Today science is ready to reshape our concept
of cosmos.
Is time travel possible? The first describing different passing of time by Albert Einstein? Hundreds of years have passed on earth
while
only a few years have passed in a space ship.
The word "space-time" was given to us by Albert Einstein who published his book
on relativity in 1905 changing thereby all conventional thinking of physics. Einstein deeply believed that any scientific
findings should not be dependent on the color of your skin, your religion or the pace you move while writing it down,
whether you sit on a chair at home or in a space ship. All Einstein did was to write down everything which was known about
magnetism, electricity.
It was
readable for someone moving in a space ship in the solar system at ¾ at the speed of light or
your colleague on earth, you have the very same coherent understanding of how things work. The ship is heavier than it would
be on earth; the clock on board would be slower than on earth. The slowing down of time would be so powerful that at the speed
of light time stops. You cannot travel faster than the speed of light.
Werner von Brauns' discoveries and buildings of rocket have been misused for war,
but had great influence on the development of
space flight. Dr. B. J. Blue focuses on the possibility for people to live in space. She trains people technically, socially
and biologically to be prepared for a life in space.
The gravitational force around a black hole is so intense that it even absorbs light – a
high absorbance of space and time.
