Season 6 # 8, KING SOLOMON'S MINES
There
is an old legend that the Solomon's mines still exist. The bible states that king Solomon
exceed all other kings on earth by riches. The weight of gold that came to Solomon in 1
year weighed 13 ½ tons.
The Israelites have been nomads and King David
fulfilled a dream for them: A City for their own.
It was Solomon who transformed Jerusalem to an ancient wonder and who controlled the trade
coming through his country to secure the trade routes of the modern world. Phoenician trade
flourished in the harbors and influenced Israel's art and culture. To find Solomon's mines
it is important to understand the trade with the Phoenicians. The Queen of Saba arrived to
offer partnership in the trade with the East and confirmed that his wealth exceeded what
she had heard of him. In the Western sides of Arabia hundreds of mines were discovered
which led to ancient factories in the mines. Mining stopped because the trees needed had
been chopped down in the whole area and the memory where the minerals came from became forgotten.
