In Search Of... Season 5 # 2, FAITH HEALING
Faith
Healing is a part of modern life. Between Religion and Medicine the laying
on of hands remains a subject of intense controversy.
Faith Healing is as
old as illness. It was the first healing of sickness. Throughout the world
practices may differ, but the religious principals behind faith-healing are
the same: It claims to be divinely inspired.
Nowhere is divine healing so
well documented as in the Christian Faith. In the gospel according to St.
John Jesus performed his first healing in Galilee. This began a tradition
which evangelists have continued in modern times. In the 1920ies the founder
of the Angelic Temple used radio to bring the ancient practice of faith
healing to the masses. Evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson performed miracles.

How do we define miracles? When modern medicine pronounces a disease
“incurable” the ill and the handicapped turn to new directions. In the
summer of 1980 hundreds of people gathered to hear evangelist Maurice Cerullo preach salvation and healing in Pennsylvania. (video clips are shown
of people being healed). Is it possible to discover the source of faith
healing? Holistic treatment used by doctors acknowledges psychic healings.

Oskar Estebany, a Hungarian healer, participated in an experiment with
wounded mice. The mice were afflicted with wounds. The stunning result:
Those mice he touched healed significantly quicker than those he had not
touched. After two weeks the mice were almost back to normal while the other
mice hardly showed any decline in the wound’s sizes.
The
story of Michael Freedman is shared. He has fought his lung cancer with the
help of a healer. He had helped him to fight his cancer by himself.
