In Search Of... Season 5 # 16, The Castle of Secrets
"In Search of..." has investigated
many mysteries like Stonehenge, the Pyramids,... a solution to these
mysteries maybe concealed in Florida's Coral Castle (25miles from Miami).
This monumental structure was created by one man with his bare hands in the
20th century. Coral Castle has been called the 8th wonder of the world. this
place is a fantasy garden and an engineering marvel. The blocks are cut and
set with great precision. Blocked without mortal. At 30 tons the greatest
single stone in Coral Castle is twice as missive as a single stone in the
Pyramids. Here are massive megaliths and structures who's purpose is a total
mystery.

It has been build in secret by
one man: Edward Leedskalnin born in Latvia. He lifted every single block, a
total of 3 million pounds. When repeatedly asked why he builds it, he always
answered: "For my Sweet Sixteen". One night a group of people went to his
place and beat him up. After this incident he decided to move. With the help
of a truck-driver and his truck he moved 3 million pounds of solid rock. The
driver was asked to wait around the corner. When he returned a moment later
a heavy rock was on his truck.

Specialists say that with
nowadays equipment it would not be possible to build the castle. A huge
crane could hardly lift one of the rocks as it was used by Edward
Leedskalnin (1887 - 1951). One film exists showing him friendly and offering
hospitality to his guests who sit in the huge rock-chairs which move as
rocking chairs do. One day he took a bus to town and went to hospital. In
spite of nursing he died of malnutrition.
