In Search Of... Season 2 # 21, BUTCH CASSIDY      

South America 1909. According to a famous film Butch Cassidy was killed in a shooting. Who was the stranger bearing a strong resemblance coming down a Wyoming road 15 years later? 

August 13, 1897: The "Wild Bunch" was a gang of bank robbers under the lead of Butch Cassidy. He later admitted that his life has been wasted and hurtful for those he'd loved the most. BC was the master of getaway by providing fresh horses on the escape route. This way any posse had no chance to follow.

Butch Cassidy gave money to those in need and they, in return, helped him - with their silence. Still today he has got a good reputation when people who knew him talk about him. "He's a real nice fellow".

When they took a group photo, the photo had been placed in the photographer's shop in the window. Pinkerton's detectives noticed that and traced them in South America. There they believed a story that they had been killed in a gunfight. In 1924 people were sure: Butch Cassidy has come back. He's talked to everybody in his old home town.
