In Search Of... Season 4 # 4, AUSTRALIAN U.F.O.s

In December 1978 a Melbourne Australia Television News crew filmed an object they claimed to be a U.F.O. That film gave chilling credibility to an earlier report to an Australian pilot who disappeared after he radioed that he was being scraped by a U.F.O. 
In the last 30 years there have been more than 110,000 recorded U.F.O. sightings. Researchers estimate that that number reflects only a tenth of those actually seen. Eyewitnesses claim in nearly all cases that the U.F.O.s have a saucer-like shape.
The great majority of reports have been in the Southern hemisphere, in the skies over New Zealand. It was here that the most astounding footage in history was recorded. On Dec., 21st 1978 radar balls near Wellington picked up what air-traffic controllers call an unexplained bliff.
 

When a TV camera team started for investigation some days later from the plane they were in an object was spotted. It seemed to be hovering around the aircarft. The team managed to film the object. The film is unlike any other footage ever taken. The object changing colour and being brighter than any star to be seen.

Bruce Cathy, a pilot for more than 40 years, worked on a map showing patterns of U.F.O. - sightings. Another pilot described an object with green light, silvery green light to orbit his plane. Suddenly the tower lost contact after they heard a metallic sound. Not a single bit of metal of the plane has ever been discovered. The taped conversation between the pilot and the air-traffic controller has never been released. The Australian civil aviation department has refused all requests to hear that tape. The department will not give any reason for its refusal.
