In Search Of... Season 4 # 3, THE AMITYVILLE HORROR

Most people think the Amytiville Horror is a ghost story. Is it based on facts? The house stands in Amityville / Long Island. For the family George and Kathy Lutz the house was a dream turned into reality. The price was down. No one wanted to buy the house because a family of 6 had been murdered here.

The ISO-team interviewed the minister who did the blessing of the house after the new family moved in.  He remembered a voice telling him in an empty room to get out and he felt a slap in the face. Later on he discovered blisters on his hand the doctor could not explain. The Lutz family also experienced swarms of flies in the house – in the middle of winter and a toilet flushing blood. When the priest tried to warn the family, he could not get through – the line was interfered by disturbing noises.

Kathy found a hidden room which was pained in the cellar. When Kathy and George took it upon themselves to re-bless the house they heard voices: "Will you please stop!" Kathy recalls a night where George had backed away from her because she had looked deeply crinkled and her hair had turned grayish. Her appearance had vanished in the morning.

More experiences made them decide to leave, abandoning all possessions. When the family investigated the history of the pre-owners, the came across a familiarity by appearance of George with the son who has murdered his father, his sisters... all in all 6 people. He said he was guided by voices.
The house was built on a place where Indians had held their enemies captive or people who were insane. The Lutz family now live in another place where they found peace.
