In rental ads jargon 6 Rms Riv Vu stands for "6 Rooms River View". In Manahattan downtown it's a hardly sought accomodation, expecially for a convenient price. Both Paul Friedman, a publicity copywriter who's coming to realisation that he never will become a true writer, and Ann Miller, a frustrated housewife, are strongly determined to have it. That's how two complete strangers meet in a void apartment. The superintendent shows them the flat and when he leaves the doorknob is removed. Both are trapped inside the apartment. They begin to talk and quickly get familiar with each other. Soon both discover that they have a lot in common: They know the same people from college, their psychiatrists are friends and both love Chinese food, which both their spouses do not. But they both feel that there is more in common than some mutual friends - they come to like each other. They become attracted to each other -
especially because both are not happy with their spouses. Paul wishes his wife
would be more like a "hausfrau" which Anne would love to be, but her
husband expects her to bring more out of herself. Paul is an advertising
copywriter and writes Jewish short stories. When the superintendent opens the
door again, Anne and Paul plan a rendezvous at the same place at night. The next
day they meet again with coming with their spouses, but have a chance to meet
alone - discussing the advantages of an affair.
