A clip of Star Trek XI is shown.

Whoopy Goldberg: Now that was the young Kirk and Spock in this summer's blockbuster Star Trek.
But the man who made Spock a legend is also on board of the new movie, but his scenes were so tough secret we can't even get them to show you because you'd go to see the movie. Please, welcome my friend: Leonard Nimoy!

(Leonard enters the stage - enormous applause.)

Leonard bows to the audience and asks: "Where is Tom?"
Tom stands at the side of the room and Leonard greets him with the Vulcan salute wishing him to live long and prosper.

Whoopy asks: I have to ask you, putting the ears on as it like
Barbara Walters interrupts: What? Was it a fake? (laughter)
Whoopy: Putting the ears on, what was it like?

Leonard: Putting the ears on was like a warm bath for me. I just loved it all of the people were wonderful.
They told me when I came on the set they told me that the young guys were intimidated.
I think that's appropriate, you know? (laughter)

Sherri Shepherd: This is so wonderful, this film, now, this is the first Star Trek film that takes us all the way back to the beginning.
Leonard: Right
Sherri: Now, Chris Pine who plays the young Kirk and we get Zachary Quinto from the TV show Heroes, who plays a young Spock.
So, can you tell us about the film?
Leonard: Well, they are all so good, the cast is wonderful, it is a very, very big movie. Bigger than any on Star Trek,
at the scale and scope and size, but at the heart of it, there are great people and great human interaction, very touching, personal and emotional stuff.
And I think it is unusual. You don't get that in a lot of big movies. You don't get that heart in the centre like this movie has.

Barbara: Rumours say that William Shatner tried to drown you in Star trek IV. (Leonard is laughing)
Leonard: That's a rumour that's going around?
Barbara: Yes. Leonard: Well, he threw me into the water at a scene we were shooting. And I was wearing a fur cloth robe from my neck to my ancles. ... The rope ultimately gained 15 pounds. It finally dropped to the bottom of the tank. Well. I am a pretty good swimmer, but I had to take the rope off to get up to the surface, so, why he tried to drown me I don't know (softening his voice in the end).

Elisabeth Hasselback: You mentioned Zachery. We have a side by side view of him as Spock and you as Spock and there is a striking resemblance right there. Did you know that you'd get him?

Leonard: Yu, you know he is an extremely intelligent and talented actor. He is very well trained.
They sent me some footage of him when they were casting and they asked my opinion.

He does not only look enough like me to make it work, he is also intelligent when working,
you see his mind at work. And that's terribly important for the character.
He is terrific. I had no quarrel with him. I am very proud of what he has done in the movie.
All of them, they are all wonderful, wonderful people.

Whoopy: Do you think, Gene would be happy with this?
Leonard, Oh, yeah. You probably know that many years ago he was quoted to be saying that it would be exciting in the future of somebody had a new way of re-envisioning Star Trek and moving it into the future. I think that's what's happening here.

Sherrie Shephert: It has been 18 years since you have been doing Star Trek. You said you won't be doing another one.
Leonard: When did I say that?
Sherrie: You did! And so, when I looked up and saw you, what made you ...?
Leonard: You see, there is a lesson in this: "Never says never". If JJ calls me I would go back to work again.
It is a wonderful set up. He is a great director, wonderful writers: Orci and Kurtzmann and a wonderful vehicle.
They have extracted the best of it. They are back to the passion which originally arose me about Star Trek.
Maybe they feel great about doing Star trek, and I felt it is like coming home.

Barabara Walters: You know who's a big fan of yours as well? Obama, President Obama.
LN: Yes.

And Angelina Jolie, who said she had a crush on you. She thought that Spock was repressed and wanted to make him scream. (Everybody is laughing). What do you say to that, Leonard?

- Well, we did meet President Obama long before he became president. And it was a lunch in Los Angeles, a very small number of people about two years ago before he was getting these gigantic crowds. We got to see him for about 57 bucks at a luncheon. And he came to the house through a back patio. We were 75 maybe 85 people. And he recognized me and as he approached me he did that (showing the Vulcan greeting). So I said: This guy ought to be President.

Elisabeth: ... We did grab a part of the show from the 1960ies. We are going to show you that.
Leonard: All right.   ( a clip is shown / Spock having to decide between two Kirks : Who is captain Garth?)

Sherri Shepherd: Leonard, your wife Susan is in the audience, you are married for 20 years, congratulations! (applause)
Now, in real life, are you anything like Spock – in real life?
- I don't know, you have o ask Susan, I don't think so.

Susan bay Nimoy: (shaking her head slowly) ...   yeah! (Now nodding)

Whoopy Goldberg: She said that with a smile.

Susan Bay Nimoy adds: I am devoted to making him scream, too.

(Everybody is laughing and Susan Bay Nimoy throws a kiss.)

Whoopy: You have a wonderful book we talked about, a photography book of large women. It is such a great vision.
Leonard: The full body project and it is about full body women.
Barbara: Some of them are really beyond full body, they are big, big body. They are beautiful.
Leonard: Beautiful women.
Barbara: It is like sculptures you make on the cover.
Leonard: Yeah.
Whoopy: Leonard, it is always a pleasure to see you. (turning to the audience) You know: Star trek is in the theatres. Right now!
So, go from here and go see it! And it is a perfect mother's day gift! ...
