1978 - A TALKSHOW ABOUT STAR TREK I

... "Tell us what the title is."

LN:  "Star Trek – The Motion Picture," (laughing) "It is an odd title." (laughing again)

"I read that there are lining up theatres for the release of that picture. For Christmas '79  –  a year from now."
LN: "That's right."

"I've never heard of that before."
LN: "I don't know how that works really. How the distributors can decide or the theatres can decide about making a commitment for a picture that far in advance. Apparently there is some formula by which they figure what the picture is worth to them and they make deals, yeah."

"There were bags of mails saying they were not seeing the picture if Spock does not  appear... Did you have them, did you have them with Spock?"
LN: "Wellllll,... I certainly would not take advantage of a studio..."

LN: "... I was doing Equus on Broadway. I had agreed that I go along with the movie and then they decided they'll go ahead with a TV show instead. And for that I was not available. That was when all that talk started.  And then they changed their minds again and got back to the movie. I am delighted.
We are having a great time. All the original cast is back..."
