"1941" is so far the most expensive
film production ever made. From this film the letters "Hollywood" originate.
Now we can expect another film this size which is based on a world-famous TV
show: A "Star Trek" movie will be shown. 79 episodes have been produced
since 1966. It has been translated so far into 50 languages and aired from
134 TV stations. 371 fan-clubs exist.
341 Star Trek publications are known
of.
The first Star Trek movie is
introduced. William Shatner talks about the fantasy which is sparkled by the
film.
Leonard talks about the ears which
have been part of the success. In TV characters have to appear with which
the people can identify. Science fiction can be highly interesting and
highly boring. Boring science fiction for me is that where it is about
machines only and not about people. Leonard believes that part of the
success of Star Trek is due to the fact that they have stayed humans. People
who handle a new future.
Scenes from ST I are shown and Gene
Roddenberry is shortly interviewed. He found a way to trick the system which
censored films making any statements about political or any other issues of
the time. Things simply happened on another planet. More parts of ST I
are shown.
"I
could not have done the character as if he hadn't changed because I have
changed."
