Last year he directed as well as starred in Star Trek IV – The Voyage Home."

"How about this old cliché: Having been an actor makes one a good director"	LN: I think it's helpful...  and I think I can be more helpful  to actors because I am an actor.	If an actor has got a problem, I can understand what it is.

I think I have a sense of how to help an actor an actor or an actress to get past a difficult moment.	A scene from directing Three Men And A Baby	Was it as difficult to direct, to get what you wanted out of an infant? -- The writers have a good time. They write down on a piece of paper:

 

So-and-so does such-and-such and the baby giggles. So-and-so does such-and-such and the baby cries. It is easier written than done.	We were on a set rehearsing and if the mother said: "She's pretty cranky", we'd say: "Good, bring her in..."	And the baby comes in and sees all the lights and the actors and she's curious and the cranky goes away.

 

Wonderful things happen on camera and they cut wonderful credit, "save it for the film it's precious stuff!"

 

Nimoy's goal: To turn out more precious stuff - as a director in the future.
