Bonn Press Conference 1999

This PC was taking place in the Maritim hotel at the time of Federation Convention 7.
At the press conference were present: Leonard Nimoy, John De Lancie, Gates McFadden, Robert Duncan McNeill and Bruce Boxleitner.
The first question (it was directed
to Leonard Nimoy) concerned the foundation of "Alien Voices". Leonard)
first told about a production, a re-make of the world-famous play by Orson Wells
where they re-played the landing of the Martians. Then John approached him and
said "....." ... ( laughter from the audience);
... and John went on repeating the suggestion he'd
made after the Wells-production. 'Let's do those famous plays for radio in a new
way and let's employ ourselves and begin our own company.'
.... questions to other actors... and to Leonard about Alien Voices again .. Future plans. New films are planned, and it makes sense to talk about them when they are published.

About
the two biographies "I Am Not Spock" and "I
Am Spock". "Both titles make sense. The first title was a total mistake.
My timing was perfect, really perfect. It came in a time when fans frequently
were watching re-runs of Star Trek and began asking for more Star)
Trek. The idea came from the fact that I was trying to deal with my relationship
with the character. I constantly got these questions how much of the character
is from me and how much the character affects me. ... we tend to overlay actors
with the character. We call them
by the character-name... .. so I thought it is an interesting title, kind of
provocative. ... It was a mistake because I was assumed to be rejecting the
character. That was not the case at all. "
question: "What is your motivation
behind your enormous range of activities?"
"The
motivation I think is restlessness. I am restless. I think this is why I chose
to be in the work that I do.)
Because I like to move from project to project. And continue to find new energy
in the

new
kinds of roles, jobs. Photography. It was a hobby of mine since I was a
teenager. There was a time when I considered to be a professional photographer.
It is a great love up mine and I am working more on it right now. But .. eh..
I consider myself lucky because I have had great opportunities. And my
restlessness takes advantage of that." "So, where does it take you now?"
"Where does it take me now? Well... John and I are
very active involved in the "Alien
Voices" , a big fact in my life. We will be designing a
website. I will)
be very active on the internet in a very
exciting kind of way, starting in about 3 or 4 weeks. We'll design a webpage
called "alienvoices.com" It's for all the people who feel like being Aliens.
There is something happening
every day. I have a great, great personal life which I enjoy very much.
And therefore I try to avoid long-term projects. I'd like to introduce you to my
wife, Susan Bay-Nimoy, sitting over there......"

Alien
Voices performance "Spock vs Q."; LN: "After working together for 2 years
we came to realize that we have got these two very interesting characters to
bring up on stage. You have Spock being adult, dignified, intelligent... and Q
was the opposite. (With wide open eyes and mouth John plays to be taken
aback by total surprise - laughter in the room.) ..... logic and chaos on
the stage versus each other.
'Do we plan to do more like that?' No, not at the moment. We've already done)
('Halloween' John contributes) Halloween Trilogy last season for the sci-fi
channel. We did "Marc of the Beast"
