I always knew that I was lucky Is here anyone on this ship who only remotely reminds of Satan It was the ears and the arched eyebrows which we developed I started studying Sherlock Holmes to find out about the logical issue what it was all about I was the one in the crew . . .
. . . who was sitting there stone- faced when everybody was laughing they tried to make me laugh. [about De Forest Kelley] - The chemistry between he and I developed very quickly "I am trying to thank you, you pointed ear gobblin."
"You are welcome, I believe, is the correct response."
The show was sold very, very inexpensively
Our rocks looked like paper machee because they were [about the transporter room] - It was very good for actions... and for creating problems with the transporter ... filmed by Billy Blackburn... Get out of ... ... the shot, Billy ( of course it was a joke)
He always had these wonderful Dobermans... ... I enjoyed them, they were great, they would attack me ... He would threaten me with the dogs - Look out, we'll get you! But it wasn't the dogs who were after Mr. Spock. He was becoming something like a pointed ear sex symbol. I was pleasantly surprised by it.
There was something for a woman who wants to be nurturing I never thought of myself as anything other than a supporting actor ... ... working equally as hard as Bill Shatner, not being paid as well by the way... ... I was competitive... ... but I never misunderstood what role I was having
I had great discipline and I always thought - Get enough sleep ... ... head down on the pillow at 9; 30 at night and up the next morning at 5;30. It wasn't the ears, the eyebrows were very time consuming, they were put on hair by hair each morning. I could learn lines during that time... ... sometimes the pages were getting down late
It (the show) was very current, very much going on with the zeitgeist which was going on in the world. [about the letter campaign] It was something like 120,000 letters coming in a period of 4 to 5 weeks The audience was intense and vocal... ... it worked [on the decline of the stories' contents] I was frankly hoping that we either made a drastic change or stop
[on the end of ST] I was relieved that it was over... I was frustrated and unhappy, and I was happy to see it end This world that ST creates and the kind of mentality it invites... ...you run into people occasionally who don't live in the real world any more At a special ceremony in 1976 - a real space shuttle was named in their honor First ST movie
I had very mixed feelings and... ... I was not eager to jump into Spock again. And then I got to the point where everyone else had signed on... ... and I had not... ... and I found myself in a position where...
...For no really good reason, as far as the audience was concerned, I might be the only one who did not come back. ... and I didn't want to be in that position... ... frankly, I don't want to be that spoiled sport. ... so I signed on And then 3 Men and a Baby, so for 2 years in a row I am top ten movies as a director.
Just because I said:
"I want to do this"
[comment to - it took a toll] I was waiting for a drink the moment the show finished From - Spitting Image - I will not be stereotyped It just didn't matter these days. It's fine. I am happy with it. Shekhina...
I have a couple of Galleries carrying the work. I never drank during the day I didn't realize at the time that I was depressed Years later, when I entered this marriage, and I professed to my wife how my life was now worth... ... and how happy I was .. she said - why do you do so much drinking? And I said - you are right - and I looked for help and I got it.
Live long and prosper
