At a seminar in Nevada where
Leonard gave a presentation of his photographic work, a lady approached
him afterwards and asked him whether he was interested in working with her.
Leonard Nimoy says that after he had shown the first photos of her in an
exhibition "People asked who she was, and how did I come to photograph her.
People commented on her size and the sculptural aspect of the images.
I decided to explore this area further..."
This book of black and white
photography which questions norms and standards set by marketing industries
shows a single model and members of the professional group "Big Burlesque"
in a very natural, relaxed and often happy mood while posing nude.
The pictures show great companionship and the fun of the experiment.
"These women are projecting an image which is entirely their own,
originating in their own stories rather than mine."
In opposition to the industry's message 'You don't look right'
Leonard Nimoy says: "The women in these pages are proudly wearing their own
skins."
