What's new on the Enterprise?

"What kind of changes occurred in your life after playing the role of 'Mr. Spock'?"
"I suddenly had the choice which role to accept. Theater, musicals, radio, tv – whatever I wanted to do, suddenly I could do it."

"Oh man! What did I play! ... the last 16 years have been wonderful, I played all that what I always had wanted to play."

Any special wishes?
LN: "In the moment there are no special wishes but one: I'd like to work together with Wolfgang Petersen. 'The Boat' and 'The Never Ending Story' showed what a great director he is."

Your favorite films?
"Number one clearly is 'Casablanca' ... and of course 'Gone By the Wind'. Fred Astaire – musicals and James Cagney's films. I always liked best to watch strong characters.

What has changed in Hollywood?
"When I went to Hollywood in 1949 with 18 years of age 99% of all films have been made in Hollywood. Today this is different..."

Your funniest experience in cinema?
"Watching the first movie version of Star Trek in a cinema, together with the whole Star Trek crew... it had been cut in a way that we did not know what's coming next... It was a funny feeling to sit watching your own film and being as excited as the audience."

Your most favorite music?
"I like many things. Pop, Rock, Soft-Rock, Jazz. If I have to name a name: Lionel Richie. In the moment I like him best. A lot of sound, a sound which reaches the feelings..."

Why is Star Trek so successful?
"... It is about human relationships, about weaknesses and strengths of people, conflicts amongst the crew.... People are distracted from their own conflicts for a moment..."
