Diane Keaton as caring mother, who has to watch how a lawsuit takes her child away.
Nimoy has shown that he is an experienced director. The other responsible people
for the film minded his choice for Diane Keaton, but had to admit that the choice was perfect.
"First they were not convinced of my choice. Somehow they had forgotten about
Diane. So I cut a role of material from 'Reds' and 'Shoot the Moon' together.
They were really astonished about her great acting technique, about her talent
for humor as for drama."
Diane Keaton is enthusiastic about Leonard's ability as director.
"Leonard is
very gentle when he is guiding actors. He never gives too much and does not put stress on anybody. He talks very
little. This makes you free as an actor. He really lets you fly high. And he
shoots simple. He's great as a storyteller. He keeps the pictures simple and
gives the actor space to act."
