1980 - Mr. & Mrs. Nimoy

Social and political activists, the Nimoys have long supported Democratic and liberal causes, and have lobbied successfully in Sacramento to save the archaeological preserve in the Santa Monica Mountains.

... in recognition of their productive activity in religious and social affairs, the Nimoys were chosen for the Humanitarian Award of the San Fernando Valley Chapter of the United Jewish Welfare Fund.

... Nimoy hosted the annual telethon to raise funds for retarded children for 5 consecutive years...

In 1979 Leonard donated proceeds from four performances of his one-man-show "Vincent" to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and proceeds from three performances... to the fund to rebuild San Diego's Old Globe Theatre, which had been destroyed by fire.
