1992 - NIMOY CLOSES THE BOOK ON STAR TREK MYTHS

Talking about the two biographies: "In the first book I was just being a little contentious for the sake of controversy."

With "I Am Spock" Nimoy boldly goes where he has rarely gone before straightening up a couple of misconceptions that have been nagging him: "These reports of conflict amongst the cast [star Trek] are not true. Whatever there is, I’m obvious to it. Bill Shatner and I had our differences, but to me, that's not what Star Trek was about. We were a family – and this is going to happen in any family."

"It was not my idea to kill Spock."

Harry Belafonte inspired him to develop the minimalist acting style now associated with Spock.

"I am more comfortable today in Spock's skin than I have ever been before. If someone called me Spock today, I would be proud... I now have no fears about whether or not he's going consume me. I understand it has been a very successful way of life and way of work... I guess the truth is that if I had any complaints today, I should have to consider myself a severely neurotic person. I am a very happy guy. By playing Spock for a long time, I have learned how to become myself."
