When The Naked Time was first aired, Leonard received ten thousand letters a week. Before his acting career he frequently attended the theater and the plays even when he was not acting himself. Having moved to Los Angeles he worked as an usher, serviced vending machines, delivered newspapers, sold vacuum machines, drove a cab, worked in a pet shop, did some soda-jerking in an ice cream parlor a. o.
Various film- and movie productions he played in are mentioned, including
"Deathwatch" which Leonard co-produced with Vic Marrow. Stage plays are
mentioned, too, including "Full Circle", "6 Rms riv view".
Some books of poetry are named... Nimoy's book stands out as an unusually expressive, meaningful statement. About the beginnings of his acting: "I considered acting an opportunity to express emotions – and I took advantage of every opportunity I got. It took me a long time to discover that restraint can be admirable." At collage seminars around the country, for which he has given talks on television as a medium, science fiction, and other subjects of related interest, he has been greeted in packed auditoriums with thunderous applause – and an observer has reported that at one such ovation, Nimoy responded with a grin, and the gentle admonishment: "You humans have really got to learn to control your emotions."
