Leonard
Nimoy has published his biography "I am not Spock" in 1975 and been on good
terms with the character since then. He declined the 7th Star Trek
film because he felt Spock’s character was ill defined in the script he was
shown. Other roles are mentioned.
"Life
keeps getting better every day," Leonard says branching out into a new medium:
Comic books. "The seeds were planted long ago when I was approached by a book
packager to co-edit a science fiction anthology with [the late] Isaac Asimov,
who was a good friend of mine. One of the things suggested for the book was
that Isaac and I co-author a story together. That’s where Primortals
began. The book never happened, but I started thinking about the story again
when I was working on Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home."
In
preparation for that 1986 flick, Nimoy met with some of the scientists behind CSETI (Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence) project. The idea
of a student receiving a message from outer space was born.
Comic
books as a medium that can deliver pictures bigger than life and no restrains of
budget.
